Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using GetRid ("the Platform", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Platform.

GetRid is a marketplace platform that connects buyers and sellers of second-hand goods in New Zealand. We facilitate transactions but are not party to the actual sale agreements between users.

2. User Accounts

2.1 Account Creation

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You may not share your account credentials with others
• One person or entity may not maintain more than one account

2.2 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to other users. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.

3. Listings and Sales

3.1 Seller Responsibilities

• You must accurately describe items and provide truthful information
• You must own the items you list or have permission to sell them
• You may not list prohibited items (see Prohibited Items policy)
• You must honor accepted bids and complete transactions in good faith
• You are responsible for coordinating pickup and ensuring item safety

3.2 Buyer Responsibilities

• Submit bids in good faith with intent to purchase if accepted
• Inspect items before completing transactions
• Complete payment as agreed with the seller
• Arrange and complete pickup in a timely manner

3.3 Bidding System

GetRid uses a private bidding system where bids are only visible to sellers and individual bidders. Sellers may accept, counter, or decline bids. Accepting a bid creates a binding agreement between buyer and seller to complete the transaction.

4. Fees and Payments

4.1 Service Fees

GetRid charges a 10% service fee on the final sale price when an item is sold. This fee is automatically deducted from your seller wallet balance when you mark an item as sold.

4.2 Transaction Payments

Payments between buyers and sellers are handled directly between parties. GetRid does not process, hold, or guarantee payments. Users are responsible for their own payment arrangements.

4.3 Seller Payouts

Sellers may request payouts from their wallet balance at any time. Payouts are processed within 2-5 business days to linked bank accounts. Minimum payout amount is $10 NZD.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any illegal purpose
• Harass, threaten, or defraud other users
• List counterfeit, stolen, or prohibited items
• Manipulate bidding or pricing through artificial means
• Scrape or collect user data without permission
• Attempt to circumvent security measures
• Create multiple accounts to manipulate the system
• Post spam, malicious content, or inappropriate material

6. Intellectual Property

The Platform and its content (excluding user listings) are owned by GetRid and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Users retain ownership of content they upload but grant GetRid a license to display and use that content on the Platform.

7. Disclaimers and Limitations

7.1 No Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of listings, the quality of items, or the reliability of users.

7.2 Not Party to Transactions

GetRid is not party to transactions between buyers and sellers. We are not responsible for disputes, non-delivery, item quality, payment issues, or any other aspect of user transactions.

7.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GetRid shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the fees you paid to GetRid in the past 12 months.

8. Dispute Resolution

Disputes between users should be resolved directly between the parties. While we may provide assistance, we are not obligated to mediate disputes. For disputes with GetRid, you agree to first attempt informal resolution by contacting our support team.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and disputes shall be resolved in New Zealand courts.

9. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or Platform notification. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
